Egyptian security forces kill senior ISIL commander in Sinai

Egyptian security forces on Monday traced and targeted one of the hideouts of ISIL terrorists in the Sinai peninsula and killed their commander.

The Egyptian interior ministry announced that the country’s security forces stormed the hideout of the ISIL-affiliated group of Ansar Baytul Maqdas in Sinai and killed one of the key leaders of the ISIL.

No more explanations have been presented by Cairo officials yet.

In September, the Egyptian Army said it had launched a “major military operation” in the Sinai Peninsula against the ISIL Takfiri group, killing 29 terrorists and leaving two soldiers dead.

“Units of the police and army launched Operation Right of the Martyr at dawn to eliminate terrorist elements in Rafah, Sheikh Zuweid and El-Arish in North Sinai,” the army said at the time.

“Twenty-nine miscreants were killed… while an officer and a non-commissioned soldier were killed and four others wounded when their vehicle was blown up by a bomb.”

400,000 Syrian refugee children lack access to schools in Turkey

Hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugee children of school age are not provided with education in Turkey, a new report says.

According to data released by Human Rights Watch on Monday, only one third of the Syrian refugee children in Turkey are attending school. Of more than 700,000 children, only about 200,000 were attending classes in the previous school year, the report said.

Turkey has been hosting more than 2 million refugees from Syria since the country’s crisis began in 2011.

“If a child doesn’t go to school, it will create big problems in the future – they will end up on the streets, or go back to Syria to die fighting, or be radicalized into extremists, or die in the ocean trying to reach Europe,” read the report.

The 62-page report documented the obstacles that prevent Syrian children from getting formal education in Turkey. Language barriers and financial difficulties were among the impediments mentioned in the report.

Many other children face bullying and social integration difficulties that lead them to drop out, the report said. Other refugee children are not attending school due to working to financially support their families.

Turkey allowed Syrian children to attend public schools last year, but did not provide sufficient schools for non-Turkish speakers.

Human Rights Watch called on Ankara to work quickly to secure these children’s education.

Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since March 2011. More than 230,000 people have reportedly been killed and millions displaced due to the violence fueled by the foreign-sponsored militants in Syria.

Israeli forces arrest Ibrahimi Mosque director

Israeli forces have nabbed the director of the Ibrahimi Mosque in the occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron).

On Saturday, Israeli forces denied Palestinians entry to the mosque, which is located in al-Khalil’s Old City.

The mosque’s director, Munther Abu al-Failat, was also arrested.

Palestinian Religious Endowments Minister Yousef Adeis slammed the move as racist, saying the mosque is an Islamic site and has nothing to do with the Jews.

Israeli settlers, under the protection of the Tel Aviv regime forces, reportedly attacked Palestinian homes near the mosque with rocks.

Also on Saturday, Israeli forces blocked exits from al-Khalil in search of assailants who allegedly stabbed three Israelis.

The Israeli military also blocked off the northern entrance of al-Khalil with mounds of dirt. The eastern entrance has been sealed off for days.

Israeli human rights organization B’Tselem on Friday lashed out at the Israeli military for carrying out “immoral and unlawful” measures which it said hinder the Palestinian freedom of movement in al-Khalil.

“These steps constitute collective punishment of residents of Hebron who are suspected of nothing and are forced to suffer serious disruptions in their daily lives,” the group said.

Meanwhile, an Israeli soldier was shot by friendly fire in the al-Ras area east of the Ibrahimi Mosque on Saturday.

An Israeli military spokesman confirmed that the soldier was injured by the “accidental discharge of a bullet.”

Home to 200,000 Palestinians, al-Khalil sees frequent cases of violence as hundreds of Israeli settlers also live in the city, which has been the scene of near-daily clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian protesters.

Also on Saturday, Israeli forces raided Palestinians home in the city of Nablus and nabbed three Palestinians.

Tensions in the occupied territories have dramatically escalated in recent weeks.

Iran’s Shamkhani Derides West’s So-Called Fight on ISIL

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council derided the US-led military coalition’s so-called fight against the ISIL terrorist group as a “joke”, saying Americans are dragging their feet over hitting the notorious group due to political reasons.

“Daesh is a tool for the West to advance its regional policies,” Ali Shamkhani said in a television talk show, using an Arabic acronym for ISIL.

He then referred to the US-led military coalition’s inability to wipe out the ISIL militants after months of military strikes, noting that Americans do not bother to target the convoys of hundreds of oil tankers that ISIL uses to smuggle oil.

ISIL is nothing more than “equipment and bases”, and the West can definitely strike them with such huge capabilities, Shamkhani stated.

He underlined that the West is using the terrorist group as a pretext to sell arms and make regional governments dependent.

That 130 sorties carried out by the US-led forces in a single day hit only 12 not so serious targets reveals that their battle against ISIL is a mere “joke”, the top official went on to say.

While the US and some of its allies began to launch airstrikes on ISIL targets in Syria in September 2014, the terrorist group has not gone out of existence.

But the battle against the ISIL militants entered a new stage after Russia began to carry out bombings against the terrorist group in Syria in late September 2015.

It came after Russia’s parliament granted President Vladimir Putin authorization to deploy the country’s air force abroad.

Reports suggest severe damages to the ISIL strongholds after Russia’s aerial attacks, something that lays bare the futility of a US-led military coalition against the militants in Syria after about a whole year.

Three bomb attacks kill 6, injured 26 in Baghdad

At least six people have been killed and 26 others injured in three bomb attacks in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The explosions took place in Sadr City in east Baghdad on Sunday, Iraq’s Interior Ministry said. Reports also indicate that the number of fatalities is likely to rise.

Separately, a booby trap bomb injured five other Iraqis near a local market in Abu Ghraib district in western Baghdad.

No group or individual has taken responsibility for the attacks. However, the Takfiri Daesh terrorists are often blamed for such attacks.

On Saturday, nine people were killed in three separate bomb attacks in Baghdad.

The northern and western parts of Iraq have been plagued by the Daesh terrorists, who began their spread of terror through some parts of the Iraqi territory in June 2014.

Army soldiers and Popular Mobilization Units have teamed up to take back militant-held regions.

The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq says a total of 717 Iraqis were killed and another 1,216 wounded in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict in September alone.

According to the UN mission, the number of civilian fatalities stood at 537. Violence also claimed the lives of 180 members of the Iraqi security forces. A great portion of the fatalities was recorded in Baghdad, where 257 civilians were killed.

ISIL Preparing for Terrorist Operations in Pakistan

The ISIL terrorist group is preparing for large-scale terrorist operations and massacre of the Shiite Muslims in Pakistan through Pakistan’s Sipah-e-Sahaba and its military wing Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.

Sipah-e-Sahaba and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and other terrorist groups supporting the ISIL which have direct links with the Taliban and Al-Qaeda play the main role in the spread of terrorist operations in Pakistan and massacre of the Shiites in the Muslim country.

The Shiite Muslims played a very important role in the independence of Pakistan from India and due to their high political status they became target to the ISIL and Saudi plots in a bid to weaken them.

The ISIL which operates in Syria could not penetrate into Pakistan, but supporters of the group were looking for reinforcing their positions in Pakistan’s big cities.

Pakistan has arrested 35 ISIL supporters so far; a Pakistani provincial commander in Sindh province announced that the ISIL supports the massacre of Shiites in Pakistan and 25 militants who launched a terrorist attack on a bus carrying Shiite pilgrims in the city of Karachi had been influenced by the ISIL to commit the crime.

Some Pakistani media reported that the ISIL has distributed leaflets among people in Karachi explaining the objectives of its terrorist attacks. The ISIL has opened an office in the outskirts of Karachi.

ISIL has conducted several terrorist operations in Pakistan so far as follows:

1-On March 18, the pro-ISIL militants attacked a school in Nazimabad district of Karachi city

2-On March 20, Buhari sect mosque was attacked by ISIL supporters during Friday prayers which left two people killed and four others wounded

3-On April 24, a Pakistani human rights activist named Sebin Mahmoud was assassinated by pro-ISIL militants

The supporters of the ISIL have also attacked the naval and army bases as well as police stations.

On October 13, Police Chief of Pakistan’s Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali disclosed close cooperation between the ISIL and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi terrorists groups in massacring Shiite Muslims in Pakistan.

“The ISIL terrorist group is closely linked to the Wahhabi group of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and it has helped other terrorist groups to carry out terrorist attacks in Sindh province,” the Urdu-language version of Dawn newspaper quoted Jamali as saying.

He pointed to the capture of the terrorists who recently attacked a bus carrying Shiite pilgrims in the city of Karachi, and said, “The arrested culprits have confessed to conducting 37 terrorist attacks in Pakistan.”

International organizations and rights groups have urged the Pakistani government to take decisive actions against the forces involved in the targeted killings and massacre of Shiite Muslims.

Sipah-e Sahaba’s goal is to primarily deter major Shiite Muslim influence in Pakistan.

The organization was banned by President Pervez Musharraf in 2002 as a terrorist organization under the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997. In March 2012, the government of Pakistan banned Sipah-e-Sahaba again.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan removed this ban in November 2014.

The Lashkar-e-Jhangvi or “Army of Jhangvi” is an offshoot of Sipah-e-Sahaba and a militant organization based in Pakistan with limited operations in Afghanistan.

The Lashkar-e-Jhangvi was founded by former SSP activists Riaz Basra, Malik Ishaq, Akram Lahori, and Ghulam Rasool Shah.

Lashkar-e-Jhangvi has been behind some of the most violent attacks on Shiite Muslims in recent years.

Lashkar-e-Jhangvi was banned in Pakistan in 2001. It is accused of killing hundreds of Shiite Muslims in Pakistan.
