Najaf to Host 3rd Ghadir Int’l Festival

The 3rd edition of Ghadir International Festival will be organized on the occasion of Eid Al-Ghadir on October 14 in the holy city of Najaf.

According to the website of Imam Ali’s (AS) holy  shrine, Zuhair Shurbah, deputy of the Alavi shrine’s custodianship said that a number of eminent scholars, intellectuals and followers of various schools of thought have been invited to take part at the festival.

Like the two previous editions, this edition of the international program will also be held in cooperation with the holy shrine’s custodianship, he added.

Shurbah noted that exhibitions of books, manuscripts and photos as well as cultural forums and specialized research meetings have been planned on the sidelines of the festival.

The organizers of the festival also plan to publish important works written about Ghadir and the character and virtues of Imam Ali (AS) and distribute the works among the participants at the event.

It should be noted that the two previous editions of the festival held in the holy city of Najaf were very well received at the international level as well as in the Arab and Muslim world.

Eid al-Ghadir, observed by Shia Muslims on the 18th of Dhu al-Hijjah in the Islamic calendar, is a celebration of the appointment of Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as his successor.
