Guard shoots woman in McDonalds in US

A woman was shot by a security guard in a fast food restaurant in the US states of Maryland, Prince George’s County Police say.

The guard got into an altercation in a McDonald’s restaurant early Sunday near the University of Maryland, leading to the injury of the woman by a stray bullet, the Washington Post reported.

The security guard fired his weapon after using pepper spray on the unknown suspect.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a police spokeswoman.

Prince George’s police said they were still investigating the incident and did not have any more information on the accident.

In 2013, 1.2 percent of all US residents age 12 or older (3 million persons) experienced at least one violent victimization, according to a Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS).
