Islam, Iran studies in Italy unknown to Iranian researchers

According to IBNA correspondent, at the Iranian Studies and Islamic Studies in Italy Meeting held in Tehran, Raphael Morillo said that the activities and researches conducted by the Italian Islamologists and Iranologists are not adequately recognized here.

A collection of relevant articles were published in 1971 and the most important ones which are written on the Middle East, authored between 1921 to 1970. Furthermore, an article inserted in the introduction of the collection describes 50-year-old Islam studies in Italy,” Morillo stated.

He asserted that in 1952 the first Islamic Studies Seat was established in Italy. Here the researchers understood that interdisciplinary activities are required to perceive Islam, activities such as the history of religion, the history of philosophy as well as the history of anthropology.
