‘Iran fully ready to counter ISIL’

A senior Iranian commander says the country’s Armed Forces are completely ready to repel any potential move by the Takfiri ISIL militants against Iran.

“We will not allow the ISIL terrorist group to approach the country’s borders. We are fully prepared to counter them,” Commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmadreza Pourdastan told reporters on Saturday.

He added that the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces have been deployed in the country’s western border regions to beef up security there.

“If the ISIL terrorist group intends to come near the country’s borders, we will target them deep inside the Iraqi territory,” the commander pointed out.

Pourdastan emphasized that the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces have high operational capability and would “nip the threats in the bud.”

The ISIL terrorists control large parts of Syria’s east and north. ISIL also sent its Takfiri militants into Iraq in June, seizing large swathes of land straddling the border between Syria and Iraq.

The Takfiri terrorist group has committed heinous crimes, including the mass execution of people and beheading of its hostages.

‘US working to prop up terror in Mideast’

A political commentator says the West, and in particular the United States, has been working to prop up terrorism in the Arab world over the past few years.

Rodney Martin, a former US Congressional staffer from Los Angeles, told Press TV in an interview on Saturday that the West – the United States in particular – sees its “presence” in the Arab world “declining.”

Arab nations are able to self-govern, he said, adding that the United States keeps propping up terrorism since “there is no compelling case for US presence in the Middle East.”

Now the West wants to re-brand al-Qaeda as no longer “evil enough” to market a renewed long term military campaign in the Middle East, Martin stated.

The political analyst also commented on the US-led coalition against the ISIL Takfiri terrorists in Syria.

“If the US and Britain were serious about these types of entities they wouldn’t have funded them and armed them to destabilize and try to topple the government” of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, he said, referring to the ISIL militants.

Many political commentators are saying that a war on ISIL is a pretext for the United States to move in and protect its interests in the region.

On September 23, the United States and its Arab allies started targeting ISIL positions in Syria.

Warplanes from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates participated in the airstrikes.

The United States also struck ISIL positions in Iraq in August.

Washington has supported militants operating against the government of Syria since March 2011.

Sana’a sees another day of fatal clashes

At least two people have been killed in renewed fighting between Yemen’s army forces and Ansarullah activists in the capital city of Sana’a.

Clashes broke out near the house of Ali al-Ahmadi, the head of the National Security Agency, in southern Sana’a on Saturday.

Yemeni officials said revolutionaries were trying to storm Ahmadi’s house.

However, a spokesman for Ansarullah activists, also known as Houthis, denied the claim, saying, “An exchange of fire occurred after bodyguards of Ahmadi barred one of our patrols from using a road near his house.”

On September 21, representatives of the Ansarullah movement and the government signed a deal to establish a government of technocrats within a month.

The Yemeni protesters have hailed the agreement as a great achievement. They say the deal would hopefully, in the long run, put an end to their grievances.

Ansarullah activists have been staging demonstrations in the capital for more than a month, demanding the government’s ouster over corruption.

The Ansarullah movement played a key role in the popular uprising that forced the former dictator, Ali Abdullah Saleh, to step down after more than 33 years in power.

US strikes Syrian province of Homs

The US-led airstrikes hit ISIL targets in Syria’s central province of Homs for the first time on Saturday, a monitoring group said.

According to a UK-based Syrian opposition group, terrorists in Minbej, east of Aleppo, along with other targets were struck.

“The US-Arab coalition has for the first time struck IS (ISIL) bases in the eastern desert of Homs province,” said Rami Abdel Rahman, director of the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Rahman said that “at least 31 explosions were heard in Raqa city and its surroundings”.

A US defense official told AFP on Friday that the camping is analogous to US-led airstrikes on ISIL terrorists in Iraq, involving “near continuous” combat flight missions in Syria.

The United States also plans to train and arm 5,000 “moderate” militants in Syria to fight against ISIL but according to General Martin Dempsey, the number would be something between 12,000 and 15,000.

Dempsey said on Friday that the forces would include Iraqis, Kurds as well as “moderate” militants from Syrian opposition groups, who will all try to recapture “lost territories” in eastern part of the country.

The US and its partners began airstrikes against ISIL in Syria on Tuesday morning. The bombings also happened in Iraq.

US aircraft, along with fighter jets from France and several Arab countries, have been bombing several areas in Iraq.

Iraqi sources say at least seven civilians, including children, were killed in a US airstrike in the city of Mosul.

Human rights activists have estimated that up to 24 civilians have been killed in airstrikes.

Qom Friday Prayer leader: “Iran and its Leader harbour for the revolutionaries and oppressed people of the world”

Ayatollah Sayyed Hashem Hoseyni-Bushehri, the Friday prayer leader of Qom, in his sermon to worshippers gathered at Qom’s Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah, referred to the presence of Iranian president Hassan Rouhani at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York, saying that we have been given a valuable opportunity that our president can stand at the UN podium every year and express the realities and provide a clear picture of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the entire world.

He added that Iran’s enemies spread propaganda throughout the year to the people and governments of the world which provides them with false opinions about the Islamic Republic of Iran. Thus, Iran needs to use its opportunities at the UN wisely to answer the lies of the enemies.

Ayatollah Bushehri referred to the concurrence of the President’s visit to New York and the beginning of a new period of discussions with the P5+1 group of countries over Iran’s peaceful nuclear program. He stated that the Iranian negotiating team must maintain the “red lines” suggested by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution (Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei). “We will not give in even an iota of our position to the negotiators and we will not joke about the interests of the Iranians nation,” the grand source of emulation stated.

In regard to the American-led Western and Arab coalition against the ISIL Takfiri terrorists, Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani stated: “Who created these groups and has been equipping them for more than three years against the legitimate government of Syria? Do they think the world believes their ridiculous scheme? They even told Iran that it is not invited to be part of their coalition. What are they thinking? Iran has always been at the forefront of the fight against terrorism, particularly in regards to ISIL.”

He reiterated that America’s attacks on ISIL positions in Syria has destroyed a lot of Syria’s infrastructure and has killed, injured and displaced many people. In Iraq, they have also killed dozens of military personnel. “What are ISIL’s sponsors, including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Jordan, Qatar and Bahrain, doing? They claim they are fighting ISIL!” he exclaimed.

In regards to events in Yemen, the Friday prayer leader of Qom said that that their revolutionary rhetoric shows that many people support the revolution and so we should congratulate them. Their chants do not suggest that their revolution is based on ethnicity and tribalism.

Ayatollah Bushehri congratulated the believers on Sacred Defence Week stating that this week does not just commemorate a historical event, but a culture that tells us how to think, act and recognize who our enemies and friends are. “Sacred Defence is a culture of trust and belief in God, self-esteem and self-sacrifice,” he explained.

“Our experience shows that when we follow these elements, we will be successful. Today, Iran has reached a position where our country and our Leader are a harbour for all the revolutionaries and the oppressed of the world… Trust in God has been key to the success of all Muslim nations. The victory of the people of Gaza was a result of reliance on God it was not due to military superiority,” Ayatollah Bushehri added.

Mashhad Friday Prayer Leader: ‘Strength of Iran’s Islamic system due to following Ahlul-Bayt’

Speaking at a ceremony at the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali ar-Ridha (A) marking the martyrdom anniversary of the ninth Shi’ite Imam, Muhammad ibn Ali al-Jawad (A), Ayatollah Sayyed Ahmad Alamolhoda, the Friday prayer leader of Mashhad, stated that we should live our lives on the basis of the traditions of the Imam in the areas of ethics, beliefs, thought, practice, philosophy and theology. He said that despite the Imam living 1,200 years ago, we can still live by these timeless traditions of Islam.

He said that the Imams have taught us the perfect way of life and their lessons contain methods for every part of our lives – including eating, walking, raising children, social interaction, economics and politics. Citing an example of the lifestyle of the Imams, Ayatollah Alamolhoda explained that the brother-sister relationship between Imam Husayn (A) and Lady Zaynab (SA) cannot be compared with any other sibling bond because of their infallible statuses, but that we can still take lessons from them on how to live a proper Islamic life.

Ayatollah Alamolhoda stated that the source of the power and triumph of the Islamic system in Iran over the past 35 years has been due to Iran’s leaders following the political conduct and lifestyle of the Ahlul-Bayt (A) and cleverly standing up to the enemies. His Eminence pointed out that by comparing the political situation of Imam al-Jawad (A) to that of today, we realize the importance of the necessity of the requirement for the leader of the Islamic state to be a mujtahid so that he can analyze and derive Islamic religious teachings and guide society toward perfection.

He concluded by stating that the strength of the Islamic system in the early years of the Islamic Revolution cannot be compared to its current state. The Islamic Republic has grown in strength because it has followed the political line of Imam al-Jawad (A) in its rule and protection over Iranian society.

Grand Ayatollah Gorgani: “The revolutions in the region faced crises due to lack of leadership”

In a lecture to his students, Grand Shia cleric, Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad-Ali Alavi-Gorgani, a professor in the Islamic Seminary of Qom, pointed to the noble verse of the Holy Quran where God Almighty states: “Know that your possessions and children are only a test, and that God — with Him is a great reward…” [8:28]  and stated that some children do not give any benefits to society but are a cause of discord and tribulations for their parents.

In regards to the verse: “So be wary of God, as much as you can…” [64:16] Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani explained that God has called us to have the utmost piety. He stated that taqwa or piety has been mentioned in more  than 80 verses of the Quran, and only in regard to its necessity in human life. He stressed the need to acknowledge the divine graces and to thank God for them. He did not grant the Iranian people freedom and independence with ease, but much blood had to be shed in order to achieve it, and it must be preserved from all danger.

Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani stated that the presence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution as the head of government in the Islamic Republic of Iran is a blessing from God upon the Iranian people, and said that crises experienced by most of the revolutions of the region were due to a lack of wise leadership and astute. Therefore, these revolutions became lost and confused.

He stressed that man should be knowledgeable in all fields. There is a dire need for teachers knowledgeable in religious issues. God has revealed religious knowledge to humans through the prophets and then the blessed imams. There must be a link between the imams and the people after the death of the “seal of the prophets.”

He concluded by saying: “There is no doubt that every human must go through a test on the Day of Judgement. Especially since the Quran warns everyone that even the prophets will be tested.”
